Social Media and Politics

Social Media Platform and Politics

Last few years have seen a range of initiatives to use social platforms to engage the audience into the political process through social media. Just as social media has become a significant part of our daily activities; it also has been a growing aspect for the political issues and campaigns.

A person’s perception of political participation in an online environment gives an understanding why people engage in politics both online and offline. When people engage in the political acts online i.e. “Liking” a candidate’s activity or tweeting their views on political platforms. Such activities have a great impact on the functions of the government or as a communication with others.

Other than the traditional ways, digital efforts have been recently made for election campaigns.  Political leaders are learning the potential of the online medium as seen in United States during their election campaigns.

In this age of Facebook and Twitter, the social media strategy for parties is as important as their communication strategy.  Judging against political parties and leaders are generally seen by the blasts of trolls posted on social media. Just like the real world, in social media world also there are people encouraging their parties.  The role of social media is promoting good governance that is recognized by the political parties.
Most middle class Indians experience political activity on social media through news reports on TV than actually by engaging with the mode themselves. There is a less but very engaging Twitter base in India that is highly political and there are constant fights between the political parties.

What we are experiencing is just the tip of an ice-berg. Social Media, especially digital media seems to be more promising in fetching results than others.

Digital Marketing Strategy

How Digital Marketing Helps a Business in India

Today, we stand in a world of information technology, where the medium of communication is rapidly growing day by day with digitalization being introduced to every aspect of life. A large population on this planet use these methods to stay connected virtually with everyone keeping themselves updated with what is happening around them and the world.

For over a decade, need for digital technology has spread like a wildfire. This day, most of our needs are being catered by internet, be it shopping, looking for news updates, staying updated on technological advances or a simple search for a restaurant nearby. These necessities have given an immense rise to digital marketing.

What is Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing is not only a term; it’s about using several mediums of electronic media to communicate. In simple words, digital marketing is a process of using electronic media such as mobile; computers, television, radio and internet to stay connect with customers in a personal and timely approach. Digital marketing is not held back by geographies as it reaches 80% of web users across the globe.

Need of Digital Marketing

With introduction of digital marketing in India, it redefined the way we used to market products. Now people have an ease to access any information at any time and from any place of their convenience.

According to a report by IBN Live, there are approximately 55.48 crore mobile users in India with an estimate of 14.32 crore with active data connection. This makes India the second largest internet and mobile user population in Asiatic region, which is growing very progressively.
Today digital marketing is the best way to promote any brand or product as compared to traditional marketing. It offers such methods where an organization can easily analyze their day to day marketing activities and campaigns and monitor them efficiently. Digital media is comparatively cheap, offers an easy-to-reach approach to every kind of business, whether it is big or small in size.

Need of Digital Marketing for Small Businesses

Marketing and promotion is the very first need of every business to make consumers aware about their services and products. If the consumers are not aware of a company and its products, they will not get a chance to buy it. And this would contribute to company’s inefficiency of acquiring potential customers.
For big brands it is easy to promote themselves through television ads or with well-known celebrities on a higher level, but this kind of investment might not be feasible for a small business or a start-up and this is where digital marketing plays a crucial role. Digital marketing offers cheap and compatible platforms to small business owners to promote their services. Thus, many small businesses opt for digital marketing strategies as a medium of promotion for the low cost, high visibility and wide reach it promises.

Challenges in Digital Marketing

Consumers are more aware of the changing trends of market as they are the ones who choose and set the trends. They are least interested in what your brand says and more interested in what their friends, media and other say. This is called word-of-mouth marketing.
Every consumer has their own way to communicate with a brand; people choose multiple channels and devices as a source of medium to get aware about new products and services. This makes it important to choose the right digital marketing method to target consumers. It is also equally important to make a good reputation and win trust of your customers. One mistake can leave a negative impression on your consumer. As every consumer wants special attention, it requires efforts to keep in touch with consumers at same time.

Benefits of Digital Marketing

For small businesses, digital marketing can be the right medium to drive new consumers and sales through websites, social networking, video and mobile marketing. Moreover, companies can plan their online marketing strategy for low cost and can earn good revenue by customizing their advertising costs – acquiring more customers.
Apart from this, it is the best way to go viral! Virtually, everybody is online on some or the other social networking platform. With the right use of integration between the platforms and a good campaign you can drive some serious acquisition.
